Update from the field: Northern Lights

Published March 19, 2018
Well we’ve just wrapped up the first session of our Ultimate Northern Lights Photography trip. It was a bit cloudier than it usually in Fairbanks this time of year – also incredibly warm for winter in Alaska. Temperatures never really dipped into the negatives the whole week! Despite overwhelmingly cloudy skies we still managed three out of six nights scoring excellent images of the Aurora Borealis blazing high above interior Alaska. Hunting for Auroras late at night is always a game of cat and mouse and this trip was certainly no exception. One night to avoid snowy skies in Fairbanks we drove over 400 miles roundtrip down to Tok in order to photograph the Aurora – with excellent results. See some of my images below – more to come as we are entering the second session this week!
