Botswana is a place unlike any other on earth. Really, it’s a dream-world for adventurers and photographers, alike. It is her on the vast plains and river deltas where lion, leopard, zebra, giraffe, and vast herds of African elephant still roam wild and free. For wildlife photographers who’ve yet to explore the continent of Africa, Botswana is the prize location on the continent.
“You know you are truly alive when you’re living among lions.”
-Isak Dinesen, Out of Africa
The biodiversity of wildlife in Botswana is incredible, with an overwhelming array of mammal and bird species that help to give the African continent it’s identity. Ever heard the term ‘Big Five?’ They await you and your camera (read more about the Big Five, here).
Any trip to Africa is indeed a great journey, and when folks think of a ‘safari,’ scenes of megafauna running through their natural habitat of vast plains alongside vehicles full of people, some photographing with big lenses, and others simply “oohing and ahhing,” quickly come to mind.
